Nursery Rhyme Time: A playtime and storytime just for babies! Come listen to some nursery rhymes and simple stories and have time to play with other babies (and meet other parents). For babies up to 36 months: Tuesdays, September 9, 16, 23 and 30. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Registration begins August 11.
New Book Club: 2nd and 3rd graders — come to an informational meeting about starting a new book club just for you. We’ll talk about what we like to read and the best day and time for us to meet monthly. Let Miss Marie know if you’re going to attend. Thursday, October 2, 3:30-4:15 p.m.
Pre-K Storytime: Let’s celebrate all things fall this October at our storytimes just for preschoolers. Each week we’ll read some stories, learn some rhymes, sing some songs, and do a craft. For children 3 years old to 5 years old and not yet in kindergarten. Wednesdays, October 8, 15, 22, and 29. 2:00-2:30. Registration begins September 9.
Time for Tots: Bring your child in for 4 hour-long sessions of interactive preschool time. There will be singing, dancing, school readiness, and a simple craft. For children 18 months to 5 years old and not yet in kindergarten. Fridays, October 24, 31, Nov. 7 and 14. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Registration begins September 23.
Star Wars Read Day: It’s our first celebration of all things Star Wars on Saturday, October 11. First, the Book Worms will discuss “The Strange Case of Origami Yoda,” by Tom Angleberger (meets 10:30-11:30). Join us if you’ve read the book! Then, from 2:00-4:00, you can visit various “stations” to revel in Star Wars.
Teddy Bear Sleepover: We’re inviting your best stuffed friend — Teddy Bear or otherwise — to spend the weekend at the library. First, drop in for a special storytime at 4:00 on Friday, October 17, or 3:00 on Saturday, October 18. Then your stuffed friend will enjoy fun and games at the library all weekend. You’ll be able to pick up your toy on Monday, October 20.
Thanksgiving Cards and Letters for the Military: Here’s an opportunity to say “thanks” to the men and women serving in our armed forces. Come in and make a Thanksgiving card or letter that we will send to the organization A Million Thanks in time for the troops to receive by Thanksgiving. We’ll provide paper and markers. You provide the words and pictures. Monday, October 20, 3:00-4:30 p.m. For kids and teens of all ages (adults too!). No registration necessary.
Edible Indian Corn: Make a sweet fall treat with The Baking Coach. For kids in 2nd-5th grades. Saturday, November 8. 2:00-3:00 p.m. Registration begins October 14.
Tiffany Stained Glass: Cheryl Frey Richards of Artsy Smartsy will come show us how Louis Comfort Tiffany, one of the masters of stained glass, worked. You’ll be able to create your own Tiffany-inspired stained glass piece for display anywhere. The program will use techniques inspired by Tiffany but without the use of glass shards or soldering. For kids in grades 2nd-6th. Registration begins November 24.
