Nook eBooks

To borrow books from your library on your Nook…

1. You must have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer.
2. You must use a USB cable to sync your Nook with your computer.

Searching For and Downloading eBook Titles:

1. On your computer, go to the library’s website and click on the Nassau Digital Doorway icon. Alternately, go directly to Nassau Digital Doorway.

2. Within the Nassau Digital Doorway catalog, you can search for a book by entering the title and/or author; by clicking eBook Fiction or Nonfiction; or by clicking Complete List of New eBooks. You can arrange books by “release date” so that newer books are listed first.

3. When selecting a book, make sure it is available as a PDF or ePub edition.

4. If you want to browse titles that are immediately available, you can check the appropriate box at the top of the page. You still can request a book that is not immediately available; you’ll receive an e-mail when it becomes available.

5. If the book is available, choose “Add to Cart.” You can “Continue Browsing” or “Proceed to Checkout.” Once you are ready to check out, you will be taken to a sign-in page. Here you’ll have enter your nine-digit library card number. Next, “Proceed to Checkout.” Then choose “Confirm Checkout.”

6. Download the title using the “Download” button under the item. When asked “Do you want to open or save this file?,” select “Open.” The title will automatically open in Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.

7. To transfer the title to your Nook, plug your Nook into the computer using its USB cable.

8. You Nook should be listed as a device in the left column.

9. Click on the book in the right-hand window and drag it onto your Nook in the left column. You will see a progress bar indicating the book is being copied onto your reader.

10. Once the title is transferred to your Nook, you can unattach the device. On a PC, make sure you follow the instructions to “safely remove hardware.” On a Mac, eject the Nook from the Finder.

11. You can find the title under “My Documents” on your Nook. When the loan period is up (14 days), the book will no longer be playable.
